KHUSHI RATTAN

Research Associate

Khushi Rattan is a PhD Candidate at York University, Canada, currently working on her doctoral dissertation in Philosophy. Her research is focused on incorporating agential standing into agential culpability, and the potential challenges it poses in the domain of legal ethics and Philosophy of Law. Her interests lie in Moral Philosophy, Social and Political Philosophy, and Philosophy of Law. She is also interested in the theories of epistemic normativity, particularly epistemic accountability, and role-based obligations of agents in epistemic and moral domains. Previously, she earned her MSc in Philosophy and Public Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Having written her master’s dissertation on the Moral Distinctiveness of Political Hate Speech, she has a continued interest in both free speech and the policies to regulate hate speech. She plans to further explore the field through the lens of distributive justice.

Apart from her doctoral research pursuits, she is also invested in her pet project of extracting socio-political themes from Indian philosophy, particularly the epic, the Mahabharata. Born and raised in India, she is passionate about juxtaposing classical Indian philosophy with a more contemporary political spotlight. When not engaged in academic philosophy, she enjoys photography, music, and hiking.
