BELTSAZAR KRISETYA
Doctoral Researcher

Beltsazar Krisetya is a PhD Student at the Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy (STEaPP), University College London. His doctoral research explores the intersection of mis- and disinformation and content moderation, particularly in crisis contexts where information environments are most fragile.

He is concurrently affiliated with the Media, Technology, and Society (MTS) Programme at ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute, Singapore, while serving as a researcher at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Jakarta, where he leads the Safer Internet Lab (SAIL) in collaboration with Google.

Beyond academia, Beltsazar actively engages in regional and global policy forums such as the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), UNESCO Internet for Trust Conference, International Institute of Communications, and the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation.

As part of the EU-funded PRODIGEEES programme, he undertook a research secondment at the Department of Informatics at Universität Hamburg, where he comparatively researched digital speech governance in Europe and Indonesia. He holds an MSc from the University of Edinburgh, where he wrote his dissertation on cybersecurity governance in Southeast Asia.

Beltsazar has collaborated with a wide range of partners, including Google, Meta, Luminate, the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, and the Tech for Good Institute. His commentaries and research outputs have appeared in outlets such as The Jakarta Post, Kompas, and Tempo. He has also provided expert commentary for regional and international media, including The Straits Times, South China Morning Post, and The Diplomat.
